Vivian & Thomas – A Love Story From Mississippi
We dated for four years before our wedding day, on April 22, 2017. We met while studying abroad in Madrid, Spain with the foreign language program of our university, Mississippi State University. We started dating after we both received the same internship in Fort Lauderdale, Florida a few years later. We enjoy traveling, cooking, swimming, biking, camping, reading, hanging out with friends and just being with one another! We are both very active so we tend to get restless when there is nothing to do! Thomas is great at enjoying what is going on around him. He sees the fun in all situations and sees what he can help out with. He is loving and supportive in anything that arises. I like that we both enjoy the same activities and are not scared to try new things. Vivian is caring, hard working, and family oriented. She is attentive to me and I could not have asked for better. She pushes to keep doing better in anyway possible! I also like that we both have similar cultural backgrounds. We both have parents that immigrated to America from overseas, so we can relate to each other’s European heritage.
"Thomas is a handsome gentleman raised in Jackson, MS. He enjoys playing soccer, watching soccer, reading about soccer and hanging out with friends and family J. Thomas is adventurous and careful at the same time, as he wants what is best for the both of us. Thomas is a caring and loving person who always makes sure that I am happy and if I am not, he will do anything to change that. He loves God, his family and living life to the fullest!" – Vivian
"Vivian is an extremely beautiful, smart, and caring person from Hollandale, Mississippi. Vivian always looks to get the best out of everyone she knows, and will go out of her way to work with others to help them and push them to greatness. She is one of the most driven people I know, and she will not let obstacles stop her from achieving her goals. I know that Vivian will always be there for me, even when I make it difficult. Vivian enjoys living life to the fullest and I couldn’t imagine sharing it without her!" – Thomas
Thomas proposed to Vivian the weekend after her birthday in Deerfield Beach, FL. Her parents were visiting and he secretly flew in his family as well. Thomas blindfolded Vivian and drove her to the beach, where he proposed! Afterwards, he brought her to a restaurant for brunch and surprised her with all family there to congratulate them and celebrate! That evening there was a barbeque with friends and family.
We did not honestly have a dream wedding in mind. We knew all along that we would collaborate with the vendors to come up with a wedding that matched our personalities and desires! Our wedding was awesome! It could not have been any better! Everything from the décor, food, music, conversation, and the little to big surprises created an absolutely perfect and memorable wedding! We had 8 months to plan our wedding. We felt that we had plenty of time to come up with ideas with our wedding planner and our families. Although certain parts of the planning process became a little hectic as the wedding date approached, it was an overall pleasant planning process. The most important thing is to have our loving families and friends present to enjoy in the special day. It is also important to enjoy the day and not stress over any of the small things that come up. You only get to enjoy this day once in your life!
An advice you would give to a bride planning a wedding? Don’t stress! Know that not everything will go the way you plan and that is ok because in the end you are still going to get to marry the love of your life. Make sure to BE PRESENT!
