Kim and Scott – a love story from Connecticut
We met at a Christmas Party in 1993. We dated for 12 years before getting married. We were best friends for 10 years before we started dating. We are both kind-hearted hard working people. Our core beliefs are aligned and we have several common interests, but a lot of our personalities are opposites. Scott is very grounded and I am more of a free spirit. He brings me down to earth and I make him more adventurous. We balance and compliment each other. We love concerts, going out to eat, traveling and spending time with our awesome dog, Roswell. We are both die-hard animal lovers. Kim was a great friend who "I'm Happy to say became my best friend and wife. Kim is a beautiful, kind, caring person and someone who I always love to be around. Kim is someone who makes me happy, I look forward to all the adventures that we will be on together with great memories that will last forever. Kim is my dream come true!" – Scott
"Scott is a wonderful guy with a really big heart. He is my best friend and I am so happy to now call him my husband." – Kim
Scott proposed at Stonehenge in England (yes, we get a lot of Spinal Tap jokes!). It was really romantic – right at sunset. I was truly surprised.
Our dream wedding was a midsummer nights with a rock n’ roll edge. Outdoor with all of our friends and family followed by a rockin’ party. And mission accomplished. There was literally nothing I would change. It was perfect! We wanted it to be beautiful with a lot of nature incorporated – we wanted it to really represent us. The flow of the day was also a key component– we really wanted to make sure our friends and family enjoyed themselves. Planning time was fairly stressful… We rented an empty space and had to bring in EVERYTHING. We had great vendors, but all of the moving parts were crazy. The day itself was definitely worth all of the work and stress.
An advice I would give to a bride planning a wedding is: enjoy the process when you can. If you are planning it yourself vs. using a wedding planner– it’s a lot to take on, but when you see your vision come true to the perfect day – it is soooo worth it.
